Soulscape’s biggest project of the year is coming around again.

With Mind the Gap, we will support thousands of Year 6 students across
Wokingham and Crowthorne as they make the big transition to secondary school.

We rely on a huge team of volunteers to make this happen. Please join us this year! No experience necessary – just a friendly face, a listening ear, and a heart that cares about young people.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER

Come and find out more at our information / training day:

  • Tuesday 11 June
  • 10 – 11:30am
  • at King’s Place, 9 Station Road, Wokingham, RG40 2AD

There’s no obligation to actually end up volunteering if you come to this.

Please email Michelle on michelle.mcleish@soulscape.org.uk or call/text her on 079 0908 2062 to come along, or ask more questions.

Other dates you’ll need to be free:

Tuesday 4 June, 10am at St Crispin’s School – safeguarding training for all volunteers (this one’s important).

Monday 24 June – Thursday 17 June – Year 7 induction week at Wokingham schools. You can volunteer on one or more of these dates.

Wednesday 3 – Thursday 4 July – Year 7 induction days in Crowthorne. You can volunteer on one or more of these dates.

First week of September – We need you to be a welcoming presence for a few hours or more as the Year 7s start secondary school.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?

Anybody! Here are some ideas:

  • University students home for the holidays
  • Parents of older teenagers who have been through this already
  • Former teachers
  • People who have helped with other Soulscape projects
  • Anybody who cares about young people
  • People with no experience but a few spare hours

We’ll train you, find you a role that suits you, and sort out your DBS check.

“Even if our presence just helped one child then it was totally worth it.”
