Last Tuesday evening, we were delighted to meet about 40 parents of local Year 6 students.

We know that the move from primary to secondary school is a big change that affects the whole family, and that the parents of the students we work with probably have a few worries and questions too! That’s why, for the past couple of years, we’ve offered expert support to Y6 parents, as well as their children.

Mind the Gap – for Parents was a great evening where we tackled subjects from exam stress to peer pressure, mental health and wellbeing. We heard all about secondary school life from experts including teachers and teenagers! The parents appreciated hearing real stories and being able to grill a deputy head teacher at the end of the night.

All the feedback said how helpful the evening had been. We hope these parents now feel much more equipped to support their children through this big change, and through some of the challenges of secondary school life. Most of all, we hope that they feel supported too!
