As we get our plans for the next school year in order, we are very happy to announce that Soulscape has been awarded a £2,000 grant from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme!
Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork. The scheme uses the money raised from all those 5p carrier bag sales to give grants to community projects.
Shoppers in Wokingham and Crowthorne voted with their tokens throughout May and June, and Soulscape came second in the community vote – that means we’ve been awarded £2,000.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everybody who voted,” says Jane Turner, Soulscape’s Director. “£2,000 is a significant amount for us and we are very blessed.”
Behind-the-scenes help
We’ll be putting this money to use from September to keep our work with young people steaming ahead. It’ll help with training our volunteers and young leaders in schools, and funding the time it takes to collect feedback on our projects and ask young people and parents what they think and need. We’ll get more time for research – keeping abreast of new developments and discoveries about young people’s lives. The award will also help to fund vital project planning and development time. All of this helps us to improve our existing programmes and develop new ones that local young people really need.
We’re very grateful to Tesco and Groundwork, and we also really value the supporters who give a small donation to Soulscape each month – they fund this kind of thing all year round, enabling us to do all the behind-the-scenes stuff that is essential to Soulscape being able to run any projects at all. If you’d like to get on board, you can set up a regular donation at www.justgiving.com/soulscape and make a huge difference to what we can achieve together for Berkshire’s young people in 2018/19.
Thanks again for your votes and support!
