Soulscape’s Chair of Trustees, Jonathan Newport, has some big news to share with you.

Jane Turner has decided to step down from her role as Director of Soulscape with effect from the end of the summer term.

We are very grateful to Jane for her work on behalf of the charity over the last eight years. She has played a vital part in repositioning Soulscape and establishing it with a contemporary identity and ethos. Jane, together with the team at Soulscape, has achieved a huge amount, working with thousands of young people in areas that deeply affect their lives: mental wellbeing, family breakdown, sex and relationships, spirituality, and the transition from primary to secondary school. The stories of how our projects have created space for young people to explore their lives have been both powerful and inspiring. In turn, Jane has used many of these stories to inspire and energise our supporters. She will be missed for the charisma, passion and creativity she has brought to the role.

Jane’s strong vision has been to create space for young people to explore life and purpose in a society and age where pressures and forces seem to crowd out spiritual reflection and contemplation. Her gift has been the creativity and joyfulness that she has shown in setting about her mission. We are sad that Jane is going, but wish her well in the new chapter of her life that she is embarking upon. There will be a celebration in honour of Jane’s work at a date yet to be arranged.

Jane has established a great foundation on which we shall continue to build. We believe Soulscape is in good hands and will continue to serve the school community in our town. In the last few months we have been greatly supported by Nick Barnett, who has a wealth of experience leading charities. Nick and Jane have worked side by side leading Soulscape forward, which both have enjoyed. The Trustees have every confidence that with Nick continuing to bring passion as he capably leads the organisation, Soulscape will be in good hands, and that it will continue to grow and make a difference in the lives of young people across our town.
